Sakura was established in 2009 as the first Japanese restaurant in Portsmouth. Since our opening night we have always strived to bring the taste of true Japanese cuisine to our customers, while adding friendly service, knowledge and a lot of enthusiasm for what we do. We have retained a lot of the features from the Portsmouth branch to our Southampton restaurant that has made us so popular. Absolutely loved it here. Felt very authentic (never been to Japan so I can only imagine). Ramen was really tasty, the set was really nice with the beef and the sushi is up there with the best I’ve had. Very quick service and all very friendly. Pretty good value but there was lots on the menu we wanted so ended up spending a lot. Easily done here if you are hungry…. one complaint was the Coke was flat. Small worry though in comparison to everything else. Really lovely and will return.
Lovely meal and Sakura! First time eating there and having sushi! Would recommend to everyone! Only gripe was kinda being pushed out once bill was paid. We were talking and finishing drinks but was told people are waiting for a table.
I’m pleasantly surprised about this Sakura place considering its in student zone. The food was so fresh hot and tasty, cooked fish was soft and tender much better than getting a greasy chippy!! Pickled ginger slices on point Service was excellent 20% off on a Saturday.

I love the staff that work here. They are so amazing, polite, patient and friendly. We had a very nice dinner. I love the pronoun badges which make it really easy to use proper pronouns with people. There tends to be a large queue so book ahead. Or just wait it out because quite often they just want to look busy and there are actually a lot of spaces.
Food was lovely with plenty of veggie or vegan options. My 10 year old daughter enjoyed the kids size portion of chicken and noodles that we ordered it twice more! The waitress was very friendly, polite and efficient. Would go again.
Me and my daughter go here for lunch when our days off are the same which gives us some catch up time together. The food is always so lovely its difficult to choose what to eat this time i had one of thier curry dishes.

I love it! I came for dinner in person on Monday. Everything is so fresh, tasty and the staff are lovely. I enjoyed it so much I just ordered for delivery and was not disappointed! The food quality was still the same and delicious. Granted it can’t be presented the same as at the restaurant but the delivery packaging was suitable with some eco-friendly pots too. I’d highly recommend to anyone.
We were still very reasonable, and it wasn’t that late, having also worked in the hospitality industry we completely understand that they wanted to finish and go home but we wouldn’t have been inconsiderate enough to stay longer than we needed to and rushing us to choke on our food and get out wasn’t necessary.
Interior is gorgeous, service is quiet but polite and quick. Food is brilliant, better ramen then any restaurants nearby for a slightly higher or even lower cost. £10.50 for a bowl of ramen is generous.
