At Avenue Therapies we are passionate about supporting children and adults, from all walks of life, to access the therapy they need. Seeking therapy can feel overwhelming, daunting and confusing. We believe that everyone has the psychological strength and resilience to overcome their difficulties, whatever those might be. However, we also know that at times, you might not believe that this is possible.  Therefore, we aim to help you begin to see that the life you want is possible by firstly understanding your difficulties and what they mean for you and your life. From there, we can then find ways forward to address the difficulties.  How we do this will depend on the problem, what you want to achieve and what therapeutic approach fits you as an individual.  We can either work with a ‘pure’ therapy, or integrate relevant parts of different therapies and adapt things depending on what will be the most appropriate for you.

Central Counselling and Training Service

What We Offer:

Central Counselling and Training was started back in September 1995 by Norma Parrack and based out of New Community Church at Central Hall in Southampton UK. We currently have a team of 15 counsellors who come from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. They are all professionally trained and registered with a professional body, such as the BACP, ACC or BABCP. Counsellors are accountable through regular supervision, complete at least 25 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) each year and have all completed enhanced DBS checks. The vision was for a service that offered professional counselling and used a model of counselling that was flexible so that people of all faiths or none could be helped. There was also a desire to provide training and counselling courses, that were recognised both professionally and academically, which would equip people in pastoral or secular roles, as well as those wanting a career in counselling.

I’m a qualified and experienced person-centred counsellor in Southampton and the New Forest area. Following over 20 years’ experience working within the NHS, I now work for two well known charities supporting those with life limiting illness and bereavement, along with a local charity supporting both victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence, whilst also running my own successful private practice. I offer an understanding and empathic safe space and environment to facilitate your personal growth and support you whilst navigating life’s challenges without judgement. This service can be accessed face-to-face or online via Zoom. I also offer ‘walk and talk’ within Southampton and the New Forest.
